Spiritual Crisis

A spiritual crisis is what happens when an opening moves faster than your nervous system and your life can carry it. The problem is not the experience. The problem is the difference in pace.

One distinction matters more than any other. In a spiritual crisis there is still a part of you that observes the experience and can speak about it. Reality testing stays largely intact, even when it is heavy.

If that capacity goes — no insight into your own state, voices giving instructions, not eating or sleeping, thoughts of harming yourself — this is a medical question and not a coaching one. Contact your doctor, or emergency services. I am not a substitute for that and I will say so on a call.

Everything below is written for the first case.
