Kundalini Awakening, Explained Simply (After 11 Years in the Process)

Kundalini awakening, explained simply: it is a byproduct. Not the goal, not the point, not the thing itself.

That might sound strange if you have spent any time in kundalini content online, where the energy is treated as the main event, something to activate, raise, manage and master. After more than eleven years in this process, I see it differently.

What kundalini actually is

Kundalini is what can happen energetically when you go through a spiritual awakening. It is a byproduct of your journey of becoming yourself. Your deeper self, your soul, incarnating in the flesh and really living from that place, with everything in your life aligning to that.

That process happens by itself. The only thing it requires is that you look inward. You shut out the world by closing your eyes and being with yourself, and you receive what comes: lessons, energies, emotions. It is cleaning out your karmic warehouse. It is cleansing the whole system.

That can feel intense. But the intensity is not a sign that you are doing it wrong. It is what a deep cleaning feels like from the inside.

Why everyone overcomplicates it

Einstein said that if you cannot explain something simply, you do not understand it well enough yet. A lot of kundalini content makes things very difficult. Chakra systems, elaborate techniques, special ways to work with the energy.

I do not think it has to be complicated. All the kriyas and energies that come up are helping you cleanse the system. They do not need you to dig, excavate, analyze, or technique your way through them. They need your attention and your okayness. Feel the body, feel your emotions, give attention to whatever wants to arise, and do not drag everything into the mind.

The simplest practice there is

A practice only works here if you actually get quiet and let yourself be guided. That can happen through movement, yoga, breathwork. But there is a catch: if you are busy checking whether you are doing the technique correctly, your mind is occupied and there is no space. Movement only works when it has become like driving a car, so practiced that the body does it without you thinking about it.

For most people, like it was for me, it is much easier to sit down in a chair. Sit down, close your eyes, be with what is here. Angelo DiLullo calls it the energetic rule of surgery: “Sit still and do not try to be the surgeon.”

It does itself

Kundalini is a way for the body and mind to restore themselves to the purity of source, of who you are becoming. It is an automatic process, if you are willing to look inward, take your time, and let the small self step aside for a while. Not by force, but by permission: the small self saying, okay, come in and show me.

The awakening, the states, the liberation, those follow by themselves if you take time every day to sit with what is here. Kundalini will show it to you.

If the process feels intense right now, I wrote a short free guide on stabilizing and grounding: fromdoingtobeing.org/stabilizingawakening
